The Pagerie Pet is not only your son or daughter, but closest confidant. Introducing Wo(man)’s Best Friend, a series that reveals our favourite Pagerie companions and the personality traits that make them one of a kind.

Anna Andres is the kind of woman who makes impeccable taste look instinctive. As the founder of AMBERMER, she brings that same sensibility to a resortwear brand rooted in simplicity, intention and enduring design.

But beyond her work and unmistakable sense of style, family is at the heart of Anna’s world. At home, that means her husband, their two boys and Bobby, her French Bulldog and much-loved companion.

WO(MAN)'S BEST FRIEND

Marta Pozzan

The Pagerie Pet is not only your son or daughter, but closest confidant. Introducing Wo(man)'s Best Friend, a series that reveals our favorite Pagerie companions and the personality traits that make them one of a kind.

Marta Pozzan is a true multi-hyphenate. The LA-based actress is also a content creator, director, writer, and mental health advocate. And she’s not slowing down. Marta is shooting a psychological thriller in France in November and recently made a short documentary on why people decide to become parents, which she is hoping to make into a feature film. “I interviewed people about why they did or did not want to become parents,” she said. “It’s been very interesting to learn from people’s stories. Everyone that I interviewed had the most complex, beautiful answers.”

Bobby has his own personality, his own place in the family and, naturally, his own wardrobe.

We caught up with Anna about motherhood, becoming a founder, the way personal style extends beyond our own closets, and the little rituals that make Bobby much more than the family dog.

Let’s start with Bobby. How did he come into your life, and when did you realise he was going to become such an important part of your family?

It’s actually a story of manifestation! In 2019, I came across a photo of a grey French Bulldog puppy, took a screenshot and thought, “One day, I’ll have a dog just like this one.”

A year later, Bobby came into our lives. He was my first dog and the moment I saw those big, mischievous eyes, I fell completely in love.

“From the very first second, I knew he would be someone truly special to our family."

And Marta, too, is a parent of sorts, the mum to rescue pups Dickie and Rue, who she loves deeply. “I don’t even know how to describe my love for them,” she said. “They can do no wrong. I mean, Rue gets into a lot of trouble. So sometimes I yell at her, but I look at them and feel peace. I’ve been really anxious lately, not because anything’s wrong, just working anxiety. And they make me feel a little bit better.”

“I don’t even know how to describe my love for them, they can do no wrong."

Her first dog, Rue, was a tiny puppy when Marta first met him. “My best friend’s roommate works at a nonprofit called Hit Living Foundation in Malibu,” Marta explained. “They go to Mexico and come back with dogs that had been living on the streets. Her roommate kept them for a couple of nights until they found them foster parents.” Marta’s friend told her you have to come over immediately. I’m holding one of the dogs and I see you. And she was right. “I had to fight for her for a month because she had distemper, which is a lethal disease. She tested positive for months, but had no symptoms and finally started testing negative.”

Who is Bobby when no one’s watching? What’s something about his personality people would never guess from looking at him?

Bobby is a little troublemaker with the biggest heart. He’s cheeky, playful, and always up to something, but underneath all that mischief, he’s the sweetest, most gentle soul. He has this incredible ability to make everyone around him smile, even when he’s doing something he probably shouldn’t!

Recently, Marta decided to get a second dog, a playmate for Rue. “I was just going to foster Dickie at that time,” she added. “But the day they sent a photographer to my house to take photos for his adoption page, I said hell no.” The rest is history.

Dickie was 2.5 years old when I adopted him, So Rue was the same age at that time, so they're going to be three in a few months.

Marta is a proponent of adopting, which comes from always wanting to help those who have less than her. “I want to share my love and happiness at any given time,” she said. “I also truly can’t look at dogs and not want to save them all."

“I want to share my love and happiness at any given time,” she said. “I also truly can’t look at dogs and not want to save them all."

You’re a mum to two boys, with Bobby very much part of the family too. Where does he fit into that dynamic? Is he another child, the favourite child, the troublemaker, the peacekeeper?

Bobby was actually my first experience of motherhood - he came into my life before my two boys did! So yes, he’s definitely my third child, a troublemaker and a peacemaker all rolled into one. He has his own feelings and emotional needs, so I make sure to give him the attention he deserves.

“He needs just as much love and attention as the children, and I’ve always believed that having a dog is a real responsibility. "

You have such a distinct sense of personal style. Does Bobby inevitably end up reflecting your taste too, or does he have opinions of his own?

I’d like to think I’ve taught Bobby a thing or two about good taste! He’s been loyal to PAGERIE for years, and I have to say, his taste is impeccable. Of course, I’d like to take at least some credit for that. (Laughs.)

Between raising two boys, travelling and building AMBERMER, your days must be very full. What’s one ritual or everyday moment with Bobby that you would never want to give up?

We have a little morning ritual that I absolutely adore. Every morning, the moment Bobby sees me, he runs over and strikes a perfect downward-facing dog pose, just like in yoga. It’s his way of asking for a back massage and belly rubs and he’ll happily stay like that for a minute or two while I spoil him. It’s such a sweet little moment that instantly puts us both in a good mood.

You’re now experiencing life as a founder yourself. Has building AMBERMER changed the way you look at the things you bring into your life, whether that’s fashion, objects for your home or even what you choose for Bobby?

Absolutely. Building AMBERMER has made me even more conscious of what I choose to surround myself with. I’ve always appreciated beautiful things, but now I pay even more attention to what’s behind them - the materials, craftsmanship and thought that goes into every detail. Whether it’s something for my wardrobe, my home or Bobby, I believe in choosing fewer, better things that are made to last.

“That’s also what I appreciate about PAGERIE - it brings together beautiful design, quality and functionality without compromising on style. "

There’s something very particular about the relationship we have with our dogs. What has Bobby taught you that you don’t think you could have learned from anyone else?

Bobby has taught me that love doesn’t need words. He has this incredible ability to sense my mood and know exactly when I need a little extra affection. He’s also taught me to appreciate the simplest moments - sometimes all it takes to make a day better is a wagging tail and someone who’s genuinely happy to see you!

Finally, if Bobby could describe you in three words, what would he say? And what three words would you use to describe him?

I think Bobby would describe me as loving, caring and a little overprotective.:) And my three words for him?

“Loyal, kind and a true friend. Although that’s technically four!"
