Los Angeles native Madison Chertow combines vintage and modern in her every day work as a content creator and influencer. There is an aura of old-Hollywood glamour and mystique, yet her bubbly personality makes her approachable and welcoming. The duality is striking and suits her as Pagerie’s first featured cat-owner.

During the pandemic, Madison launched HOMEBODY LA with her fiancé, Jonathan. He handmakes textured paintings and she markets these minimal, neutral pieces, and their teamwork has led to a quick success.

“I wasn’t a huge animal lover, but now I’m obsessed. He opened my eyes and now I’m officially a cat lady”

It is no surprise that their great teamwork extends to pet-parenting. Madison and Jonathan grew up having cats, but Iro being their own baby, has particularly made Madison fall in love with animals. “I wasn’t a huge animal lover, but now I’m obsessed. To that, one can hear the love for Iro in her voice as she educates Pagerie on the Burmese cat breed. These cats originated in the early 1900s and were bred to be therapy cats from the start. Pure-bred Burmese cats are very rare and their temperament is calm and sweet.

 

The name Iro itself means “peace”. Although Jonathan coined it mainly to give a very unique name for a cat, the coincidence is exceptional and perfect.

Breed: Burmese cat.

Cutest quirk: Right when we wake up, he loves to be held and carried to the window to bird watch. He will meow until this happens – it’s his morning routine. He also sleeps on his back with his hands over the blanket.

Favourite human food: We eat lunch together and I always give him the chicken that comes with my salads.

Daily uniform: He used to be in the nude, but now will be wearing his Línque collar. It’s chic, cool and classic and fits his vibe.

Go-to outdoor activity: Burmese cats are an adventurous breed so I want him to embrace that quality. He is currently being leash-trained with his Ox leash, but he also likes to be in a stroller!

Preferred luxury item: I usually leave my Saint Laurent Leather Shopping Tote by the door and he’ll often hop in. Cats love small spaces, and mine evidently loves luxe small spaces.
