Phi Castillo

The Pagerie Pet is not only your son or daughter, but closest confidant. Introducing Wo(man) ’s Best Friend, a series that reveals our favourite Pagerie companions and the personality traits that make them one of a kind.

Before Phi Castillo was the bonafide co-founder of creative branding agency, Round Two Agency, she was not only using her prolific eye to create her own content, but she launched a dog walking company cleverly called At Your Leashsure. “I was a dog walker, a DJ, an influencer, model, actress, all of the sorts,” said Phi. “I landed behind a screen and I really enjoy running this agency that my boyfriend and I launched together.”

The Pagerie Pet is not only your son or daughter, but closest confidant. Introducing Wo(man) ’s Best Friend, a series that reveals our favorite Pagerie companions and the personality traits that make them one of a kind.

And although she’s settled into the successful career she’s built, Phi’s journey to her one true love, her canine companion, Jaxon, began via a Facebook group when she was still walking dogs.

“Jaxon came into my life when I was 22 years old,”

said Phi. “I saw a photo of a pit bull that was going to be euthanized that day in one of the Facebook groups for my dog walking business. I messaged the girl who posted it because I felt as if I needed to save this dog.”

While Phi couldn’t make it to San Bernadino from Hollywood in 30 minutes, the time until Jaxon would be euthanized, the woman who posted said she could get there in 20 if Phi could commit to foster. And she did. “The poor baby, he was eight months old,” she noted. “He wasn’t given an opportunity to shine. Within two days, a bunch of people on the Facebook group that I posted on about trying to help him find a home all wanted to meet him. But I realized this is my dog. There’s no way I’m getting rid of him.”

Phi added that Jaxon has a very high emotional intelligence. She even trained him herself, teaching him to speak on command, sit, paw, other paw, and so much more.

“He has this energy where you look at him and you can feel what he’s thinking. I love to spoil the shit out of him, which is why I also love Pagerie because it’s so cool that my little shelter boy who had no chance of life now gets to wear beautiful jewelry. It makes me smile every day.”

To that end, Phi expressed that it’s hard to pinpoint all the words to describe her affection for Jaxon. But her goal is to show the love that could be built with something that didn’t really have a chance. “I’m absolutely obsessed with Jaxon,” said Phi. “It’s crazy to be able to love something so deeply. I would do anything for him.”

Breed: 50% cattle dog, 30% American bully, and 20% pit bull.

Cutest quirk: When I'm on my Peloton upstairs, Jaxon will probably do this seven times, but he'll stretch his paws out and then he'll curl them to his face. I also love when he dreams. The fact that he pitter-patters his paws when he sleeps is the cutest thing in the world.

Favourite human food: He eats Farmer's Dog, so that's human-grade. I'm pretty good about not giving him my food because I always try to work on the begging. But he likes salad. When I do give him kibble, I'll cut the tops of strawberry heads and add blueberries and eggs into it. He's pretty healthy with his human food.

Daily uniform: We use a prong collar because he is 75 pounds and I learned to use it properly. But his staple is his Pagerie nude collar. He wears it every day and sleeps with it on because it's soft and doesn't bother him. He looks so fancy. I love elevating him because he looks like a pit and it's really nice to make him look so professional.

Go-to outdoor activity: I try to get him to go on a lot of walks because it's good for his anxiety. We walk to my favorite coffee shop and I let him chase after pigeons, which he gets so much excitement from. So our outdoor activity lately has been walking around the neighborhood. I call it a sniffing safari.

Preferred luxury item: I have two. First, my bed. We got a king specifically so Jaxon has enough room to sleep with us. He loves getting all over our bed and rubbing on our linen duvet from Parachute. The other thing that he likes to do is we have a Nordic Knots rug and it's massive. After he eats, he loves to rub his entire face on the rug.
